Shipments arrive unhindered on the roads from Austria
September 17, 2024
The Austrian flood situation only caused interruptions in road transport for a short time. The affected businesses, with prior warnings and road information, designated alternative routes, thus avoiding serious problems and stuck shipments on the routes between Austria and Hungary. The Association of Hungarian Road Carriers (MKFE) announced that the previous closures have already been lifted on the Austrian A1, A2 and A3 motorways, which is why there are currently no significant disruptions. However, congestion may still occur due to traffic situations. MKFE warned all its member companies about the conditions in Austria in time, thanks to which the companies were able to plan their deliveries accordingly. In such situations, road carriers look for alternative routes with the help of dispatchers, thus ensuring the safety of drivers and goods. For example, Austria can be bypassed from the south on the Slovenia-Italy route, and from the north on the Slovakia-Czech Republic route. MKFE also drew attention to the border controls in Germany that came into force on Monday. It was recommended that motor vehicle drivers involved in passenger transport, goods transport and goods transport should check the validity of their personal documents before departure. In particular, tour bus companies should warn the travel agencies that commission them and the passengers. German border guards can turn back those who do not have a valid identity card. All in all, affected motorists can expect congestion and longer travel times.
