During September, several traffic measures came into effect in connection with the finishing works of the D4 highway. After the laying of the new asphalt layer, two sections and a significant part of a third section can be put into operation before the end of the month, subject to temporary traffic restrictions. For some remaining sections of the D4, Via Salis spokeswoman Daniela Pedret said motorists could prepare for short-term closures affecting the highway's on- and off-ramps and traffic lanes. "Since the traffic restrictions are constantly changing, we ask drivers to carefully follow the temporary traffic signs," the spokesperson emphasized. From September 16, the almost five-kilometer Skalka - Háje section can be fully used again in both directions and in both lanes. This stretch, which was originally commissioned in 2017, saw a new layer of asphalt laid, safety bays and Highway Information System technology installed as part of the modernization. Did you know? The construction of the D4 highway is the first major infrastructure project to be implemented in a public-private partnership (PPP). Traffic flows in a similar way on the Nová Hospoda - Krašovice section, which was similarly modernized and originally opened in 2004. Finishing work on D4 began in 2021, and currently nearly 97.5 percent of the project has been completed. "The Via Salis project on the D4 motorway is nearing completion and the current traffic restrictions are among the last.
D4 will be fully operational by December. We thank all drivers for their caution and attention. Please follow the temporary traffic signs carefully," said Daniela Pedret. In all weather conditions, the 5.5-kilometer section Háje - Milín and the 2.5-kilometer section from Milín to the Těchařovice junction were opened in both directions from mid-September, with traffic moving in one lane in each direction. “Builders are doing finishing work on the side of the highway or in the median strip. Therefore, the traffic can travel in this section alternately in the outer (slow) or inner (fast) lanes," outlined the spokesperson. close info Source: with the permission of Via Salis zoom_in The finishing works of the D4 have reached the last months. In a part of the Lety - Čimelice section, from Nerestce to the Lety junction, at the end of September, traffic can move in the left lane in a 1+1 system. Significant traffic changes are also expected around the Mirotice roundabout, which intersects with road II/121. Here, the traffic order will change several times, including the access to the highway. "The works are carried out along the entire length of the highway on a daily basis, on weekends and in all weather conditions. At the time of greatest effort, more than a thousand people and hundreds of machines were working on the highway at the same time," concluded VINCI Construction CS Group spokesperson Iveta Štočková.
